About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior AI Backend Engineer who will help architect and build the backend systems that power Calibrax’s AI solutions. You’ll develop scalable services, APIs, and data-driven infrastructure that enable our ML models, agent workflows, and automation engines to operate reliably in production. This is a hands-on role where you’ll own complex systems end-to-end, contribute to technical decisions, and work closely with ML engineers and product teams to deliver real-world impact.

Responsibilities

Design and build backend services and APIs that power AI workflows, agentic systems, and data pipelines.
Architect scalable, fault-tolerant systems for model execution, data processing, and workflow orchestration.
Implement high-performance storage and retrieval systems for embeddings, features, and model inputs/outputs.
Collaborate with ML engineers to integrate models into production environments with clean interfaces and strong observability.
Drive backend engineering best practices—clear documentation, robust testing, CI/CD, reliability, and performance.
Own end-to-end components: from system design to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing iteration.
Evaluate emerging infrastructure, cloud services, and backend technologies to strengthen our AI platform.

Requirements

6–10 years of backend engineering experience with a strong track record of building production systems.
Deep expertise in Python, Go, Node.js, or Rust with strong fundamentals in system design and distributed systems.
Experience building scalable APIs, event-driven systems, microservices, or workflow engines.
Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern infrastructure tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
Familiarity with model-serving patterns, vector databases, data pipelines, or streaming systems (e.g., Kafka) is a strong plus.
Solid grounding in performance optimization, reliability engineering, and secure system design.
Experience with agentic systems, autonomous workflows, or multi-agent architectures is highly desirable.
Comfortable working closely with machine learning teams and translating requirements into scalable backend architectures.
